Aero Espresso Italiana

The first civil aviation company to be granted a permit by the Turkish government, Aero Espresso Italiana was formed in 1924. The Turkish government's permit was for 11 years.  Aero Espresso began originally flying on two routes, Istanbul-Athens-Brindisi and Istanbul-Athens-Rhodes.  Tickets were sold at the Lloyd Triestino agency offices, one in Mumhane in Galata and the other in Galatasaray.   These flights were by flying boats (Dornier Wals), which landed on the Bosphorus off the airlines office at Bu:yu:kdere.  From here passengers boarded airline buses into Istanbul.  Aero Espresso Italiana, was purchased by the Turkish government on 21 February 1936.
